At South America Motorbike Tours we have chosen the R1200GS as our flagship motorcycle. It is built for quality, comfort, economy and dependability. It is ideal for the larger rider and /or couples. We NOW also have available the F800GS for those riders who still want all of the qualities of the 1200GS but are one up and/or prefer more off road riding.

The BMW R1200GS is acknowledged by many experts as the best all-round road bike ever made. In 2004 the GS was awarded the prestigious International Bike of the Year trophy, an annual balloting of motorcycle magazines from around the world.
We have purposely selected the 1200 model as opposed to the smaller BMW on/off road bikes as we believe the benefits of this model clearly out weigh any perceived disadvantages such as weight and height.

Whilst the latest model GS1200 maybe 24 kg (53 lbs) heaver than is smaller sister (GS 650) and the standard seat height is just 30mm higher, the slightly larger 1200 makes a huge difference in terms of rider and passenger comfort in both on and off road conditions. The seat arrangement of the GS1200 is truly designed for carrying a pillion passenger.

We are obviously unable to reduce the extra 24 kg from the 1200, however we can fit a lower seat which will reduce the over seat height to that of the GS650.

All our bikes are fitted with heated handlebar grips, panniers, ABS anti lock braking, cross spoke wheels and tire pressure control
